Surface This bird pattern was water jet cut out of stainless steel for the facade of an Anthropologie store in Mississippi. Because of the constraints of the materials, they ended up patterning the bird a little differently than I originally intended - c’est la vie! But I think there’s still a nice shadow play that makes the facade appear more luminous.
Surface This laser-cut blackened steel fence was designed for the rooftop cafe of a Mediterranean restaurant/bar in the landmarked Meatpacking District. The olive branch motif reflects the Italian cuisine and was easily manipulated into an abstract organic pattern. There were certain building code parameters influencing the design. For example, openings could be no larger than four inches; apparently the size of an infant’s head. I created a single tile that could be cut multiple times from one CAD drawing and placed together for a seamless repeat. Renderings are by Evan Homolka
